Some patients sign up for a total care packages that would include 24-hour emergency cover. You would be given the mobile telephone numbers of the consultants and can phone them at any time in an emergency. Usually emergency situations will require an immediate consultation and this would be covered by your antenatal care fee. If you need to be admitted to hospital during pregnancy we can either admit as a private patient, or transfer your care into the NHS as long as you are eligible for NHS care and you have a referral from your GP.

For those aiming for a normal delivery we would usually undertake cervical sweeps from about 38 weeks as this has been shown to reduce the chances of induction of labour and we prefer labour to happen naturally where possible. We would discuss other helpful measures such as reflexology, and can arrange this for you at a small additional cost, and may need to discuss the option of induction of labour if there is a problem. At the time of delivery you would phone us and we would meet with you at the hospital and would stay with you during labour, undertaking any examinations or assistance which may be required.

You would have your date for surgery as soon as the decision was definitely made, usually at around 34 weeks. You would be admitted on the morning of surgery and the delivery undertaken. This usually takes about an hour from beginning to end, and you would then go to a single room on the postnatal ward.
